Open Me Carefully: Literary Love Letters

This display was born out of a phrase that Emily Dickinson wrote on the outside of an envelope containing a love letter addressed to the secret love of her life, Susan Huntington — “open me carefully.”

The love letters in this display are between famous writers throughout history that have been historically censored, misinterpreted, or forgotten.
